God’s Timing: How to embrace it in a Fast-Paced World

Be it the start of a new year or new month or the beginning of a week, nothing beats a fresh start. A fresh start and new beginning has come to mean going all in and putting every ounce of motivation towards your goal. However, there are times where we must be counter-culture and embrace God’s timing despite the demand to do more faster and now.

The best thing to do for God’s call on your life is to slow down and listen. It is easy to be distracted by competition or the new up-and-coming things that are happening in the world. But the beauty of being set apart is that we don’t have to follow everyone else to see success. Even better, our definition of success becomes more clear with the call of God. When the purpose of what you are called to is your focus then everything else will fall into place. The Lord is the provider of all things. How great is our obedience to the one who knows and can handle all the details?

When things seem slow or uncertain, we can press on knowing that our wisdom does not have to solve the problem.

Continuing to be faithful with what we know we need to do is an easy step to take when uncertainty creeps in.

One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much,

Luke 16:10 (ESV)

Be aware of the season you are in for your calling and lean in. Looking for the excitement of a harvest when the Lord has you in a dedicated season of planting can be discouraging.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (ESV)

Celebrate your successes from following God’s Timing

Take a moment to write down and/or pray about the circumstances and wins that God has brought you through.

It is common to think of how Abraham felt when he was told to sacrifice Isaac. Some will mention that he may have had fear or doubt or confusion. But I believe that Abraham had so much faith after the birth of Issac, he didn’t question God. When he was told to sacrifice Issac, he got up early. There was no snooze button or “maybe I’ll start next week”. I believe Abraham had so much faith, God only had to tell him one time.

His actions do not say hesitation. They say faith. Obedience.

I pray that we can have Abrahams type of obedience in timing.

Whether it is immediately go or stop, let us move in the timing of the Lord.
